The 51st Philadelphia Folk Festival announces lineup, early-bird tickets are on sale now

This year’s Philadelphia Folk Festival will be its 51st and will take place on August 17th, 18th and 19th at its usual location in Upper Salford Township (near Schwenksville). This year’s lineup includes Mary Chapin Carpenter, Voices of the Wetlands, Wanda Jackson, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle & The Dukes, John Hiatt and the Combo, Little Feat, The Secret Sisters, City & Colour (solo acoustic), Paul Thron, Debo Band, Red Clay Ramblers, & more.

Among the performers will be Philly-based artist Tim Showalter, a.k.a. Strand of Oaks, and his friends from up north in Toronto, The Wooden Sky. Rounding out the initial lineup will be Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli, The Holmes Brothers, Mary Gauthier, Mike Cross, Comas, Tracy Grammer, Arborea, Chris Bathgate, Brother Sun (ft. Pat Wictor, Joe Jencks and Greg Greenway), Roosevelt Dime, Pokey LaFarge, The Gypsy Hombres, Chris Kasper, Griz, Spuyten Duyvil, Zach Stock, and The Great Groove Band. And of course, Gene Shay will return to host the festival, as he has done for all 50 previous folk festivals.

This year’s festival gets rid of the Saturday afternoon concert, combining the afternoon and night into one continuous concert that requires only one ticket. Now, three-day passes ($116) and single-day tickets ($52) are available. Those who get the three-day pass AND camp ($156 total) get access to a campers-only Thursday night concert. Those prices listed are for early-bird tickets, which are available now until June 5th. Get your tickets and information at FolkFest.org.
