The most anticipated non-DMB set of the DMB Caravan this past weekend was, of course, the 45-minute Saturday set by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds on the Atlantic Stage. The stage was packed for the short but satisfying set that helped bring in the largest crowd of the weekend at Bader Field, and Dave and Tim did not disappoint. They kicked things off with a beautiful performance of “Grace is Gone,” one of the few “classics” played during the set. Next was “Save Me,” one of my personal favorite Dave and Tim songs that just seems perfectly written for the duo.
Most of the songs played were ones you wouldn’t normally hope to hear during a regular DMB set (“Eh Hee,” “Old Dirt Hill,” “Oh,” for example), but are welcomed during a Dave and Tim set because of what Mr. Reynolds can add to them. While the 9-song set was way too short (I could watch those two for hours), it was a fantastic mid-afternoon relaxer set that whet everyone’s appetite for the show DMB would put on later that night.
You can download an audio recording of the entire set at Dreamingtree.org (you must be a member, but don’t worry, it’s free to register). There is also a very good photo set up on Flickr. Below is the setlist, along with links to fan-shot videos.
