Josh Ritter announces new album (stream new song) & Spring tour (playing The Troc in May)

It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard from Josh Ritter. It’s been more than 2-and-a-half years since his last full-length, So Runs The World Away, was released. Since then, he’s released a debut novel and two EPs, one this past February (Bringing in the Darlings) and one the February before that (To the Yet Unknowning Wolrd), but has been fairly quiet of late.

But the wait for that next full-length will end on March 5th, 2013 when Ritter releases The Beast in Its Tracks, which was written and recorded in the 18 months after his marriage had fallen apart. You can stream a new song from the record called “Joy to You Baby” below (via Soundcloud). You can order the 7-inch single and pre-order the new album itself here.

Ritter has also announced a lengthy Spring tour to support the album and will be stopping in Philadelphia for his first show here since March 2011. He’ll play at The Trocadero with his Royal City Band on Thursday, May 16th. The Felice Brothers will open the show. Tickets will go on sale this Friday at noon via TicketFly. Full tour are below, along with an album teaser and the streaming new song.
