Who’s playing this week? (February 18-21)

This week’s recommendations…

Monday – Bosnian Rainbows @ First Unitarian Church – 8:30/$15 – Tickets
So, Jim James is playing at Johnny Brenda’s tonight. But that show has been sold out since it went on sale, so your night is probably still free. If you happen to be a fan of The Mars Volta or At the Drive-In, you should consider seeing Omar-Rodriguez Lopez’s new band Bosnian Rainbows. Their debut album will be released this spring and tonight will be a good chance to hear more than just “Torn Maps” and “Turtle Neck.”

Tuesday – Swift Technique @ The Blockley – 8:00/$8/21+ – Tickets
Tuesday nights may not be the best night to party hard, but if that is what you’re looking for, The Blockley is the place to be. Philly’s Swift Technique, one of my favorite funk/jazz bands, throw a party unlike any other local band, taking inspiration from the experts down in New Orleans (such as Galactic). If you’re sober enough, pay close attention to each player in the band, because they are all extremely talented and deserve your undivided attention.

Wednesday – Snowden @ Johnny Brenda’s – 9:00/$10/21+ – Tickets
