Who’s playing tonight? (Wednesday, January 9)

Tonight’s slate of concerts is a bit small, but there’s one show I strongly recommend seeing. Matt Duke is opening a weekly January residency at the Tin Angel tonight, and each week features a different opening guest. Tonight’s opener is Jason Myles Goss, and he’s worthy of your $6 and attention.

I first heard about Jason Myles Goss last winter when he was in town ahead of the release of his new album Radio Dial and quickly recognized his talent for songwriting. That album came out in June and it was one of the few I chose to review last year. It’s his fourth record and best yet, sounding bigger and better with the help of some great backing musicians. I usually hate comparisons, but it’s hard not to tell you that if you’re a fan of Josh Ritter, you’ll probably be a fan of Goss. You can stream the full album here, or you can just check him out live tonight at the Tin Angel (21+) at 8 P.M.; tickets are available here.

Here are a couple of my favorites from the record…
